What we do with your details

What happens to your name, your number and your message when you contact Staffordshire Truck Company through this website, in plain English.

We use what you send us to answer you, and for nothing else. We do not sell it. The only tracking is Google Analytics, which counts visits and pages read.

Who we are

This website belongs to Staffordshire Truck Company, which rebuilds Mitsubishi L200 K74 pickups in Staffordshire. We decide what happens to the personal information you give us through it, which makes us the data controller for that information.

To ask about anything on this page, email info@staffordshiretrucks.com or ring 07957 210002.

What we collect

Only what you choose to send us. You do not have to give us anything to look round the site, we do not buy data, and we do not follow you around the internet.

  • The contact form. Your name, your phone number or email address (or both), the subject you pick from the list and your message.
  • The address a message came from. The form also records the IP address each message was sent from. We use it to stop spam and repeated automated messages, not to identify you. For one hour, a scrambled copy of that address is used to count how many messages it has sent.
  • Calls, WhatsApp and email. If you ring, message or email us directly, we see your number or address and whatever you tell us, the same as any business.

How we use it

  • To answer you. When you ask about a truck, a build, a refurbishment or a service, replying is a step you have asked us to take before any sale or work, which is a lawful basis under UK data protection law. For general questions, our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us.
  • To keep the form free of spam. Recording the IP address is our legitimate interest in keeping the form working for real customers.

We do not use your details for marketing, we will not add you to a mailing list, and we never sell or rent them to anyone. No decisions about you are made automatically.

Who else sees it

A message sent through the form is saved on the website, where only the people who run the site can see it, and emailed to the workshop inbox. A small number of suppliers handle it along the way:

  • Pressable hosts this website in a data centre in Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. Enquiries are stored on its servers, and like any web host it keeps technical logs of visits to the site for security.
  • Titan provides our email, so enquiry emails and anything you email us are held in its system, which may use servers outside the UK, including in the United States.
  • WhatsApp, if you choose to message us there. WhatsApp is run by Meta, and its own privacy policy covers that conversation.

We only pass information to anyone else if the law requires us to.

Cookies and tracking

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages get read. It sets two cookies in your browser (named _ga and _ga_ followed by letters) so it can tell a returning visitor from a new one. They hold a random number, not your name, and we do not link them to anything you send us.

If you would rather not be counted, Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout switches Google Analytics off for every site, or you can block cookies for this site in your browser and everything here still works.

Google Analytics shortens your IP address before it is stored and we have not switched on any advertising features. Google’s own privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.

There is no tag manager, no advertising or social media pixel, and nothing else that follows you from page to page. Our fonts are served from this site, not from Google. Staff who log in to manage the website get the standard WordPress login cookies.

Videos and other sites

The home page and some edition pages show a preview picture of a YouTube video. That picture loads from YouTube, which is owned by Google, so opening those pages tells Google your IP address and basic details about your browser. The video itself does not load until you press play, and then it uses YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode. Once it plays, Google’s privacy policy applies to it.

Links to Facebook, YouTube, WhatsApp and Autotrader take you to those sites, and their own privacy policies apply once you are there.

How long we keep it

If an enquiry does not lead to a sale or any work, we delete it within 24 months of our last contact with you. If you buy a truck from us or we work on yours, we keep the records of that sale or job for as long as tax and accounting law requires.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, object to how we use it, or give it to you in a form you can take elsewhere. Email info@staffordshiretrucks.com or ring 07957 210002. There is no charge, and we will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Children and changes

This site is for people buying, building or looking after a truck, and is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 16.

If this policy changes, we will update it here and change the date below.
