Servicing & MOT
Servicing, MOT, running faults and upgrades for any Mitsubishi L200 K74, in a workshop that works on nothing else. Ring, book it in, and get a written list of what it needs before anything is done.
Have these ready when you ring
- The registration. We look the truck up before you arrive.
- The mileage. It decides what the service is, and what the cam belt is due.
- What it is doing. Noises, smoke, warning lights, anything that changed. Describe it; we have probably heard it before.
- The MOT date, if that is what it is in for. Book the pre-MOT inspection at the same time.
By appointment, Staffordshire. Collect the same day where the job allows, or leave it with us.
What we do
01
Servicing
Interval services on the 4D56 done properly: oils, filters, belts including the cam belt, tensioners and the pulley kit, with every fluid checked rather than topped up. You leave with a written list of what was done and what is coming next.
02
MOT
MOT testing on site, open to every L200 owner, not just ours. A pre-MOT inspection first, so you get a written list of what it needs and what that costs before anything is done. Then the test, and any repairs, without the truck leaving the building.
03
Diagnostics and running faults
We only work on this truck, so a fault gets recognised rather than guessed at. Starting, smoke, boost, electrics, noises: we know where the K74 goes wrong, and parts do not get thrown at the problem.
04
Upgrades and modifications
Lifts, wheels and tyres, light bars, snorkels, side steps and hand-made stainless exhausts, fitted to the truck you already own. The same parts we put on the editions, at the same standard.
Under a K74 on the ramp. This is where the answers are.
Where a K74 goes wrong
Thirty years of L200s through one workshop. These are the things we check first on any truck that comes in, whatever it is booked in for.
-
01
Rear arches and sills
The first place a K74 rots, and the first place we look. Filler hides it; a screwdriver finds it.
-
02
Chassis rails and spring hangers
Sound in most, gone in some. It has to be seen from underneath, on a ramp, with the underseal off.
-
03
Cam belt, tensioner and pulleys
If there is no proof it has been done, it gets done. A snapped belt is an engine, not a service.
-
04
Glow plugs and cold starting
Slow starts and white smoke on a cold morning are usually plugs, sometimes the relay, occasionally worse.
-
05
Boost pipes, hoses and the turbo
Split hoses and tired clips cost power and mpg. We check them before anyone mentions a remap.
-
06
Ball joints, bearings and steering
Play in the front end is common at this age. It is an MOT fail, and it is where a lift needs setting up properly.
Ring, book, inspect, fix
Tell us the truck, the mileage and what it is doing. Five minutes on the phone saves a lot of email.
We agree a date. For an MOT, book the pre-MOT inspection at the same time so nothing is a surprise on the day.
The truck goes on the ramp. You get a list of what it needs, what can wait, and what each job costs.
Only what you have agreed gets done. It leaves with a written record of the work and what to expect next time.
Why here
One truck
We build, rebuild and service the Mitsubishi L200 K74 and nothing else. Every fault on it has been on our ramp before.
Priced per job
No menu, no package. You are told what it needs and what that costs, and only the agreed work is done.
The right parts
Genuine Mitsubishi where it matters, and the uprated parts we use on our own builds where they are better.
Aftercare
If we built your truck, servicing and MOT come from the same people who put it together.
Ring with the registration and the mileage and we will book it in. If it is making a noise it should not, describe the noise. We have probably heard it before.
